4 New National Champs for Repton While most people were sunning themselves over the Bank Holiday weekend, 5 Repton Boxers travelled North to Mansfield in a bid to win 5 National ABA titles. All our boys gave 100% and as a result The Repton came away with the most Titles. 4 out of the 5 Boxers won thier bouts. Jimmy Smith, Sunny Edwards, Harvey Horn and James Branch, who won his 5th National title, all boxed well to lift the Junior ABA titles they worked so hard for! ...5 Repton Boxers go through to ABA Finals! On Sunday 5 Repton boxers travelled to Portsmouth to box in the semi-Finals of the Junior ABA's. The Result was an impressive 5 out of 5 go through to the finals of this years Junior ABA's. This cheered everyone up down the club, after Friday's disappointing result against 'The Belfast Dockers' who beat The Repton 4-3 at our Annual May Show. ...5 Repton Champs prepare for ABA Semi-Final ! Repton Boxers are preparing for a busy weekend! On Friday May 17th we have our 30th Annual Dinner/Boxing show at The Brewery , Chiswell st EC1. The very next morning a squad of 5 boxers, coaches & officials will be making a dash down to Portsmouth for the weigh-in of The Junior ABA Semi-Finals. ...This week 10 rounds with Former World Champ Charlie Magri I've known Charlie since he was around 13 or 14 years old. When Charlie Magri was a boy he lived just down the road to me in Stepney. He use to box for Arbour Youth Boxing club. Charlie told me once he always wanted to join the Repton, but out of loyalty to Arbour youth and his trainer Jimmy Graham he stayed at Arbour till he turned pro. This week Charlie Magri will be one of our Celebrity guests at our Annual May show at The Brewery, Chiswell st on Friday May 17th. Round 6...Who was your toughest opponent? - Charlie...A mexican boxer called Jose Torres, boxed him twice at Wembley in 1982...I lost one and won the next fight against him...it was toe to toe in both fights...he was a tough boxer..typical Mexican. Repton 4 Sunderland 2 Last Friday Repton BC sent a Squad of Boxers to Newcastle to box against old rivals Sunderland. 6 bouts and 2 skillls matches were scheduled. We won the team match 4-2. Team members and officials sid it should have been 5-1. In the opinion of the audience and most officials other than the judges, Jake Henty easily won the bout but the decision went against him. ReptonBC Vs Sunderland Return Match. On Friday 3rd May our Squad of Open Class Boxers will be travelling to Newcastle for the return match against our old rivals Sunderland. The last time we boxed against Sunderland we drew 4-4. We are sure they are going to put a tough team in place to test our boxers again!
